Just had a nice dinner here at ayala center and the food the great, staff was friendly, price is just right. No wonder people lines up for a table here. The pandan chicken was to die for and the crisly dinuguan was just perfect plus its unlimited rice. The staff was so friendly and our waiter "Ahmed" did a superb service. Serving is always good for two. I only wish that they have bottomless iced tea too hehehe but all is well since i had a fantastic time dining here
For Kare-kare lovers this is the place! You can really feel the true taste of the Kare-kare...Delicous!
The rice is unlimited.. so you will truly enjoy your dining experience

We ordered the Baked Scallops, Siningang na Sugpo, Veggie Bicol Express and the Crispy Dinuguan. Plus Rice. Only cost us less than 600 php. Although the Crispy Dinuguan is not as good as Kanin Club's (actually - do not expect it to be as good as Kanin Club's) - overall it was a decent dining experience and I can't wait to eat here again. And yes - I didn't mind that we were on the waitlist.
This restaurant is for big rice eaters as it serves unlimited rice. However, this shouldn't excuse them for being so stingy with their servings of the entrees. Our waiter or food server Was eager to please us, but at one point, was not our elbow when we needed him because he was busy singing happy birthday to another customer. Part of the restaurant staff's job is to sing happy birthday to diners celebrating their natal days. And there was more than one that day we lunched. So, the restaurant was pretty noisy. Tastewise, we can only speak for the sizzling squid which was delicious. As already said, serving sizes are disappointing.
Hukad (which is Cebuano for "to serve food") is a great restaurant to dine if you want to sample Cebuano Cuisine. The restaurant is usually full during meal times as the place has great food at reasonable prices. Musts to try are their baked scallops, crispy tadyang (beef ribs) and pork humba. They also offer local delicacies for dessert like biko (sticky rice cooked in coconut milk and brown sugar) and budbud (another sweet rice delicacy).

To get a good table inside the air conditioned restaurant, come at least 30 minutes earlier than the usual meal times, otherwise you'll end up waiting for a long time or dine al fresco (ok at dinnertime but not during lunch!).
We like the fact that the portions are not to big cause in that way we can try many differrent things without throwing away food. Good food but the waiter had trouble explaining the dishes. I ordered the things I did not know. More exciting but it's not always possible to get an explanation.
We tried one thing that was told to be crab. A small plate with an orange thick sauce. Very good and shrimp w garlic.
I really love this restaurant...Delicious food wether in Ayala Mall Cebu or Cagayan de Oro City branch...Crew were very friendly and entertaining. No wonder why this restaurant has so many customers....
No wonder this restaurant has a long queue outside trying to be seated just to eat at this restaurant. The food and service is the best Cebu has to offer.

Filipino food lovers will marvel at the selection of the restaurant's dishes. Even if you are in a budget, Hukad seemingly brings out the best flavors in a cheaper package compared to other Filipino specialty restuarant.

There is free flowing rice for all the rice lovers and the service is great with the waiters standing by to take any orders.

The downside is that you will have to wait to eat. Even on a weekday swarms of people go to this restaurant in Ayala Mall Cebu to taste local cuisine and come back for more. Hukad doesn't accept reservation because of the limited seats stemming from the small space they have, or that was what we were told.

But trust me, it is worth eating there. Try going there an hour or two before lunch time or dinner. As when it is meal time, the place is packed and people are willing to wait even if they are 8th on the list.

Try the new Crispy Pata and the Dinuguan ( the have the best one in my opinion )

I thought i would try this place as it overlooked a small area of parkland at Ayala Shopping Center, Cebu from the second level of an area called Ayala Terraces. All looked good however I didn't enjoy the place one bit. The orders were given wrong on two occasions even after being confirmed by my Filipino friend in local language. The food comes out at different times so some people are eating and others are not as they busily scurried around to try and cook the right meal requested. Whats more the meal came out in a tiny proportion which made other restaurants - Siam, Gustavan or even the other Filipino restaurants make sic. Hakad (Hukad) / Golden Cowrie look like i was eating at Jollibee. At no stage did anyone else but the hard of hearing waiter attend to our problem. Whats more when I complained all i got was "yes sir, yes sir" so it was a pointless exercise to try and get anything done. Theres better value in price terms meals elsewhere. As a result of the wrongly ordered meal (and be aware of the English language barriers) It would be standard practice that the staff member has his or her salary deducted to compensate for "lost food" as a result of a mistake. The staff clearly dont listen. I asked for Chicken, I got pork. I asked for Becol express with Chicken, I got a vegetarian dish. The dish was greasy and the pork still had the "blobs" of fat uncut off it. I said I would accept the pork dish as the staff member would have his pay deducted for the amount of the dish and i didnt want to unfairly penalize the guy over a couple of dollars in my currency but a large chunk of his daily salary (yes, some of my friends get paid $3 a day as a trainee in Cebu) This restaurant is just as rotten as the food that was dished up, the staff dont listen and the penalties for staff unable to comprehend English orders correctly too severe. Great atmosphere, but cant wait for a new operator to take over this commercial space. Avoid this place.
